Our Story

Chat Play Fly was founded by Certified Practising Speech Pathologist, Cathryn Vincent.

She met many passionate, time-stretched educators who wanted to support children's communication skills but struggled to access the information they needed, when they really needed it. Whether this was due to staffing shortages to attend training, limited training opportunities or waitlists for external services to come and support.

But once those educators got some new strategies, it made their days easier, it allowed more rewarding and stronger connections with children and children's voices were better heard.

And so, Chat Play Fly was born... So that every educator can access the tools they need to connect and grow children's communication!

A bit more on our founder...

Cathryn has been a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist for over 10 years working with children under seven with a range of communication difficulties. Including speech delay, late talking, language difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental delay.

Cathryn has spent the last five years exclusively in the early years sector developing and delivering online and face-to-face professional development to early childhood educators and educational leaders across Australia. She also provides coaching to educators on the floor around supporting early communication and partnering with families.

She values the important role that early childhood educators play in fostering children's communication skills in the early years. As well as the critical role educators play in early identification of children with additional needs to enable early intervention.

Cathryn presented at the 2023 Early Childhood Australia conference, sharing the process and outcomes of a collaborative project undertaken in the ECEC setting. This project aided early identification of children with communication difficulties and effective planning for children's communication development.

When she's not working, Cathryn can be found out with her family or embarking on a creative project, always with a coffee in hand!
